Makarytch is simple in design and easy to operate. It is lightweight, small, easy to carry and always ready to deploy. The pistol is blowback operated, the automatic cycle comprises the extraction of a spent case, cocking the hammer, stripping the next cartridge from the magazine and pushing it into the chamber. Given the low energy released from gas-discharge or blank cartridges (as compared to the energy released when firing rubber-pellets), Makarytch operates as a semiautomatic pistol only when using rubber-pellet ammunition. When using gas-discharge and blank ammo, after each shot the user will have to manually pull back the slide to the rearward position. After that the recoil spring will push the slide forward stripping the next cartridge from the magazine and pushing it into the chamber. The pistol’s double-action firing mechanism makes the first shot via trigger action so there’s no need to cock the hammer manually.
After the last shot in the magazine is fired, the slide is locked in the rearward position after ejecting the final case.
The pistol uses a reliable manual safety mounted on the left-hand side of the slide. When engaging the safety mechanism (with the red dot on the slide closed), it decocks the hammer and simultaneously physically blocks the hammer from hitting the firing pin. When the safety is engaged, the slide is blocked and cannot be moved to the rearward position.
| Makarytch pistol comes in a rigid plastic carrying case, with an extra magazine and barrel-cleaning brush.
